Sketch of the Day: Moon Knight – Finished

This’ll be fun – for me at least.

We’ll start off with the SOTD from last week:  Moon Knight.

There's a bad moon on the rise!

Next, we’ll begin cleanup in Adobe Illustrator.  Since I want to register a few more hits for this particular post, cleanup and finished images are available after the jump. (more…)

Sketch of the Day: Batman 2 – Finished

Yesterday, I had to return a lot of phone calls, which meant a lot of time on hold.

This is what happens.

I'm Michael Keaton!

And so you can see where I started…in case you didn’t see it yesterday….

I am the Mannydamm Batman!

Or as I like to look at it – Cause and Effect.

It is entirely possible that this image might change before I’m happy with it.

Sketch of the Day: Lanterns & Supes and Bats, oh my!

So, I’m sitting at the computer waiting for some files to download and the service tech to come back to the phone.  There’s people dropping by asking me to fix things for them and because I’m not talking on the phone in my ear they just assume I’m not really on it.

Wish I was joking.

Here’s today’s quick sketches.

In brightest day, in blackest night, Geoff Johns will not escape my sight

I am the Mannydamm Batman!

Wait, what? I drew him with real legs and not those stumpy midget legs I've been doing?

I kind of like the Batman, and might run him through the cleanup mill at some point.  Hal looks like an X-Baby.

The caption really does say it all.

Friday LinkFrogging – 11/26/10

I’d like to blame it on the Tryptophan.

I’d like to blame it on Black Friday.

I’d like to blame it on travel.

I’d like to blame it on sickness at home.

I could Blame It On Rio, or maybe even the rain.

I am very certain, at the very least, the Bossa Nova is somehow involved.

Any and all of those are true enough, but they don’t make up for the fact that for the first time since its inception, I failed to bring you our loyal reader(s) your weekly dose of links.

I’m sorry.

Before he left to traverse the hills and woods on the way to his in-laws, Stephe suggested that on this festive Friday we use actual cheesecake as our, well, cheesecake.  I thought it was funny then.  I still think its funny, so there you go.

Tied up in Austin.

Dr. Bruce and Stephe are en route to Austin Comic Con, where the streets will soon run with Geeky effluent of all manner. It’s cool though. I’m saving myself for full immersion at the big one (San Diego) and the good doctor left a little prezzie behind, a visual representation of one of the Austin event’s fairer participants, Torrie Wilson.

Wilson entered this world  in Boise, Idaho, and became a successful female body-builder before moving to L.A. to — all togther now — pursue a career in acting. Now, I know better than to make any connectiong between wrestling and acting (I was still young and impressionable when Andy Kaufman made that mistake, and it’s never left me) but as it turned out, Wilson’s big break came one night when she attended a WCW event with her boyfriend and was asked to accompany Scott Steiner to the ring.

She made her professional debut not long after as nWo agent Samantha, sent to seduce David  Flair and turn him against his father, Ric Flair. The girl must have skills, because a 7-year career with WWF followed (featuring signature moves such as the Schoolgirl, the Tilt-A-Whirl Headscissors takedown, and the Sitout Facebuster) as did two Playboy appearances.

And now? Aside from the occasional celebrity reality-show appearance (most notably battling Lou Diamond Phillips to the end in ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’) and one-offs in the ring, she’s pulling double duty for GonzoGeek,  serving as this week’s LinkFrogging hostess while at the same time breathlessly awaiting the attentions of our intrepid field reporters in Austin.

Lucky girl? Well, yes, but there was a lot of hard work in there too. Lucky readers? Absolutely. Follow me please, the Links await.

Bust it!

How the hell did it get to be November already?

Before you know it we’ll be gorging ourselves on turkey.

Then it will be Black Friday and that can only lead to Christmas.

Wow.

But I’m getting ahead of myself.

This week we saw a typhoon of voter unhappiness turn control of the US House of Representatives over to the Republicans.

We saw the Dallas Cowboys lose…AGAIN!

We saw the “final” Saw movie top the box office.

We saw the San Francisco Giants win the World Series for the first time since they moved to the left coast.

It has been quite a week hasn’t it.

Kinda makes you wonder what comes next.

I can’t answer that question in the more big picture sense, but I can tell you what comes next in this post.

Cheesecake.

Please say hello to Kari Byron.  Kari is the hottest of the crew on Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters.

How did she get chosen?

Simple.  Stephe sent in a request.  I do most of the picking so when one of my Gonzo Compadres makes a request, I honor it.

Well done sir.  Well done.

Screw you JMS!

Well kids, if its late July the geeks are convening in sunny Southern California.

That’s right, its Comic-Con weekend in San Diego.  And while we at the ‘Geek were able to secure press credentials for the mecca of all geekdom, due to timing issues we were unable to get there.

That doesn’t mean we haven’t enjoyed reading the press releases and marvelling at the missed opportunities (an interview with Pauly Shore?  Christopher Daniels?  Elvira?).

Discussions have been had.  Plans have been tentativised.  Next year kids.  Next year, we at the ‘Geek will bring it to you first hand.

Until then we’ll just have to do our part with this week’s cheesecake.

Say hello to Lynda Carter, better known to a certain generation of American males as Wonder Woman.

Spinning her way into our homes and our collective consciousness in 1975, Ms. Carter came to epitomize the DC Comics Amazonian princess for decades.  Why, I still remember a summer vacation at my grandmother’s house during which I read the local paper and it mentioned that Ms. Carter and Farrah Fawcett would appear on a new show called Battle of the Network Stars and they would both be wearing swimsuits.  I asked my dad if we could watch it that night.  He didn’t hesitate to say yes.

Gread guy my dad.

Remind me to tell you the Risky Business story sometime.

But I digress.

Despite a recent costume change in the comics, Ms. Carter’s iconic portrayal of Wonder Woman makes her our choice for cheesecake this week as we sit at our desks lamenting what might have been.

Next year.

Next year.

ENOUGH!

ENOUGH!

Just enough.

I hope Lebron James enjoys Miami.

I hope Miami enjoys Lebron James.

But the gratuitous blowjob the national sports media has given and continues to give this story is beyond ridiculous.  I’m looking at you ESPN.

Professional sports aren’t about loyalty anymore.  Let’s just forget about that.  They are about money, plain and simple.  Lebron made his.  Good for him.

And speaking of things I’ve had enough of…Lindsey Lohan.

Lindsey, shut the fuck up and do your time like a good little has been.

I don’t want to see your “civil disobedience” etched on your fingernails.  I don’t want to hear you tweeted that your sentence is a violation of your eighth amendment rights.

Most of all, I don’t want to see your Svengali father on TV talking about how the system failed you.  Sorry dad, the ones who failed Blowhan are you and her mother.  You were too busy using your child to print cash and you forgot to raise her with basic sense and morals.  It’s on you dude.

So for the second week in a row, I had a reason to use Lindsey Lohan for our cheesecake and I passed.  I refused.  I didn’t do it.  I won’t put her drug addled face on the left side of this piece, not even for the possibility of some cheap traffic.

Why?

Because she doesn’t deserve it.

Instead, say hello to Jane Lynch.

I can hear you all saying “What?”

Seriously.  I can.

I don’t care.

You know why?    I’ll tell you why.

Ms. Lynch is one of the most versatile actresses working on Hollywood these days.  From her early work as part of Christopher Guest’s improv ensemble, to her turn as the boss in The 40 Year Old Virgin, to her recurring role as Charlie Sheen’s psychiatrist on Two and a Half Men, she always delivers.

That’s more than you can say about most of the actresses in Hollywood, Lohan included.

Earlier in the week, Ms. Lynch was nominated for an Emmy for her work on Glee.  She plays Sue Sylvester the cheerleading coach and arch-nemesis of the Glee-ful kids.  I think with a little more Sue Sylvester style tough love and a little less recreational sluttery maybe Lindsey wouldn’t be headed for the big house.

I’m just saying.

Welcome back kids.

What a week.  The Olympics are in full effect, provided you don’t mind staying up until the wee hours of the night to see the full coverage.  Tiger apologizes, sort of.  ECW dies, again.

And the GonzoGeeks are back with some more links for you.

Before we get to that, let’s meet this week’s cheesecake shall we?  This week we let our patriotic flag fly at high mast as we Say hello to Lindsey Vonn, gold medal winning US Olympic alpine skier and, as of this week, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.  Lindsey had 45 pictures up at SI.com and it was my job to pick one.  I hope you enjoy my selection.

You can make your own downhill slope joke.
