Friday LinkFrogging – 4/8/11

A tremendous Friday to you all.

Yes, I just dropped some Rome on you.  What can I say?  Its Smackoff Friday and I just back to the office after running some errands.  The calls were well above par so far and if there’s anything we like here, its good smack.

Well, that and cheesecake.

See what I did there?

Clever, I know.

While you sit there dazzled by epic wordplay, say hello to this week’s cheesecake, Jennifer Garner.

Ms. Garner stars opposite Russell Brand in the new version of Arthur that opens today.  I’m frankly sick of the commercials and ready for this thing to hit the screen already.  I’ve never been sure that there was a need to remake Arthur in the first place.  Dudley Moore knocked that one out of the park like an 8-year-old did to my machine pitch team last night…3 times.

Still, despite my misgivings on the remake, Ms. Garner’s geek cred is solid.  She began her career playing a scantily clad spy in Alias.  Then she moved on, showing her range by playing a leather clad ninja in both Daredevil and Elektra.  She took a swing at Tom HanksBig with 13 Going on 30 and helped out a girl in trouble in Juno.

Since then she’s gone on to MILF status, a series of rom-coms and marriage to the Man Without Fear (as evidenced by his role in Gigli), Ben Affleck.

One final thought on the Arthur remake.

Do you think Katy Perry is going to do a brassy pop version of “Arthur’s Theme“?  Seems like a no brainer to me.

Right now, the best that we can do is hit the links.

Rack me. (more…)

Friday LinkFrogging – 12/3/10

V is for...

Welcome to December.

We’re back, and more importantly, back on time.

Tis the season to shop early, often and excessively.

Lucky for you, our weekly trip around the internet is still free of charge and full of cheer.

Last week was Black Friday.  This Friday is Black Swan.

Yes, that as another of my patented ham-handed segues.

Say hello to this week’s cheesecake, Princess Amidala herself, Natalie Portman.

Ms. Portman belongs to that subset of cheesecake that I like to refer to as inevitable (see also – Aniston, Jennifer).  That simply means that I knew we’d get around to featuring her, I just didn’t know when.

Ms. Portman jumped into the collective geek consciousness with her role as an orphan/assassin-in-training in Leon.  She became an objection of affection and/or obsession as Timothy Hutton’s muse/Lolita in the tragically overlooked Beautiful Girls.

Still, it was her role as Vader’s moll, Amidala, that really sealed the deal for the geekosphere.

Her new movie, Black Swan, opens today.  She plays a ballerina toying with her dark side in preperation for a role in Swan Lake opposite previous cheesecake, Mila Kunis.

And all of this just in time for Christmas.

On to the links. (more…)
