Top 10 Things I Learned From 80s Music

Rock Me!
Rock Me!
I’m a child of the 80s.  It’s just part of who I am.
So would explain why I have a soft spot in my heart for the music of that decade (much to my wife’s dismay.)
Inspiration is a funny thing.  I flipped on VH1 Classic while I was getting dressed this morning and saw the video for “Gimme All Your Lovin'” and an idea began to percolate.  On the commute it fleshed itself out, and after a bit of quick internet research, I’m ready to share.
The title of the post says it all.  So, here now, in no particular order, are the top ten things I learned from 80s music.
The funny thing is, the older I get the truer some of these become.
Enjoy.
  1. Love is a battlefield
  2. Every girl’s crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man.
  3. Everybody wants to rule the world.
  4. The average age of a combat solider in Vietnam was 19.
  5. You’ve got to be cruel to be kind (in the right measure).
  6. What goes around comes around.
  7. If a problem comes along, you must whip it.
  8. One thing leads to another.
  9. Mozart composed “The Magic Flute” in 1791.
  10. Everybody’s working for the weekend.
