Magical Mat-stery Tour: The Final List (in case you care)

Back in January, I aimed to keep track of any wrestling match I watched in good ole aught-nine.

In general, I failed. I’m sure there were a bunch I didn’t list, for a variety of reasons ranging from forgetfulness to kayfabe.

Anyway, here goes.

Total Days Watching Wrestling In 2009: 147
Longest Streak Of Days Watching: 11
Best Match Of 2009: #141, Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels, WrestleMania XXV

1. Triple H vs. John Morrison, Tables Match, Smackdown! 1/9 episode (1/12)
2. Undertaker vs. Shelton Benjamin, Smackdown! 1/9 episode (1/12) (LOVED this match. Didn’t hurt that it had two of my favorites one on one)
3. Triple H vs. Miz & Chavo, Smackdown! 1/9 episode (1/12)
4. WWE Tag Titles-Carlito & Primo vs. Kendrick & Ezekiel, Smackdown! 1/9 episode (1/13)
5. Triple H vs. Big Show, Last Man Standing, Smackdown! 1/9 episode (1/13)
6. Billy White Cloud vs. Curt Hennig, Portland 5/8/82 (1/13) (Hennig looks like John C. Reilly’s character from Boogie Nights. I got an unedited copy of three Portland TV shows for a birthday present.)
7. Mike Miller vs. Rocky Johnson, Portland 5/8/82 (1/13)
8. 2 Out of 3 Falls-Dizzy Hogan, Rip Oliver & Matt Borne vs. Hacksaw Brett Sawyer & Andre the Giant, Portland 5/8/82 (1/13)
I think the most amusing thing I’ve watched so far is when Andre issued a challenge for a six-man tag match at the end of that Portland episode. Then, Rocky Johnson essentially had to translate what Andre said with an oh-so-smooth, “I think what he’s saying is…” segue.
9. Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. The Miz, Raw 1/12 (1/13)
10. Intercontinental Title-William Regal vs. CM Punk, Raw 1/12 (1/13)
11. Randy Orton vs. Kane, Raw 1/12 (1/13)
12. Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena, Raw 1/12 (1/15)
13. Necro Butcher vs. Abdullah the Butcher, IWA-EC 11/5/04 (1/15)
14. Don Fuji vs. Susumu Yokosuka, Dragon Gate Osaka Special 11/23/06 (1/16; completed 1/18) (PHENOMENAL match. Enjoyed the psychology, as well as some very creative offense working down specific body parts, like Susumu slamming Fuji down on his knees repeatedly, including once off the top rope.)
15. Sting vs. Hernandez, Impact 1/15 (1/17)
16. Junk Yard Dog & Mr. Wrestling II vs. Ted DiBiase & Matt Borne, Mid-South 2/16/83 (1/19)
17. Steel Cage Match, Magnum TA & Mr. Wrestling II vs. Butch Reed & Jim Neidhart, Mid-South, 12/25/83 (1/19)
18. Magnum TA & Mr. Wrestling II vs. Midnight Express, Mid-South, 2/10/84 (1/19) (II is so fluid in the ring. Both these matches were Southern tag team style at its finest)
19. Bruiser Brody vs. Abdullah the Butcher, Japan 4/10/81 (1/19)
20. Amazing Red, SAT & Divine Storm vs. Special K, ROH Scramble Madness, 11/16/02 (1/19) (A highly entertaining spotfest. Held up well over the years.)
21. Finlay & Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry & Jack Swagger, Smackdown 1/16 (1/19)
22. Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Chris Jericho, Souled Out 98 (1/19)
23. Over The Top Challenge, Raw 1/19 (1/20)
24. Intercontinental Title-CM Punk vs. William Regal, Raw 1/19 (1/20)
25. Undertaker vs. Shelton Benjamin, Smackdown 1/23 (1/24) (I liked their first match better. Had more actual wrestling, less punch-kicky “WWE style”)
26. Shelley vs. Sabin vs. Dutt vs. Bashir, Impact 1/22 (1/24)
27. Claudio Castagnoli vs. El Generico, ROH Race To The Top Finals, 7/28/07 (1/25)
28. ECW Title-Jack Swagger vs. Matt Hardy, 2009 Royal Rumble (1/25)
29. WWE Women’s Title-Beth Phoenix vs. Melina, 2009 Royal Rumble (1/25)
30. WWE Title-John Cena vs. JBL, 2009 Royal Rumble (1/25)
31. World Title-Jeff Hardy vs. Edge, 2009 Royal Rumble (1/25)
32. Royal Rumble Match, 2009 Royal Rumble (1/25) (A very fun battle royal. Made even better by watching with 14 of my pals.)
33. Axel Bros vs. Young Bucks, NWA Wrestling Showcase 1/30 (1/29) (My first chance to see the Bucks and I liked what I saw. Loved their finishing sequence.)
34. Skull Krushers vs. Chris Kadillak and Roger Ruiz, NWA Wrestling Showcase 1/30 (1/30) (Hey, my first squash of 2009!)
35. Jerome “LTP” Robinson vs. Mr. Wrestling IV, NWA Wrestling Showcase 1/30 (1/30) (I liked MW4’s schtick better the first time I saw it with Matt Classic. I wonder what II thinks of someone playing off the Mr. Wrestling legacy.)
36. Rob Adonis & Jeremy Vain vs. Culture Shock, NWA Anarchy 12/29/08 episode (1/30) (I got into NWA Anarchy last year, then it got pulled off the local TV station. I recently found the fed keeps episodes of TV back-logged on their Web site. I think it’s a highly entertaining product given the limits on production values and such.)
37. CM Punk & Mickie James vs. William Regal & Layla, Raw 2/2 (2/2)
38. Cryme Tyme vs. Priceless, Raw 2/2 (2/2) (Lame DQ finish. The “new” ROH is a puro tour de force compared to stuff like this.)
39. Rey Mysterio Jr. & Kofi Kingston vs. Mike Knox & Kane, Raw 2/2 (2/3) (A fun big guys vs. little guys match)
40. John Cena vs. Chris Jericho, Raw 2/2 (2/3)
41. Adam Pearce vs. TJ Perkins, NWA Wrestling Showcase 1/30 (2/6) (I like Pearce but he’s the wrong guy to have a main event spot in a company trying to regain relevancy for a new generation.)
42. Battle Royal for Elimination Chamber spot, Smackdown 2/6 (2/9)
43. Shelton Benjamin vs. MVP, Smackdown 2/6 (2/9) (A longer PPV match between these two could be outstanding.)
44. Morrison, Miz & Kendrick vs. Truth & Colons, Smackdown 2/6 (2/9)
45. Umaga vs. Funaki, Smackdown 2/6 (2/9)
46. Dixie Dynomite vs. Dirty White Boy (w/ Ron Wright), Smoky Mountain Wrestling Volunteer Slam 1992 (2/9) (Dixie is a masked guy who essentially came to the ring draped in a Confederate flag. A great fan favorite with the children, according to the commentators. Yeah… Wright is one of the great underrated heels ever in wrestling.)
47. Buddy Landell vs. Brian Lee, SMW Volunteer Slam 1992 (2/9) (These are abridged matches but that may not be a bad thing, all things considered.)
48. Melina & Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix & Jillian, Raw 2/9 (2/10)
49. Cryme Tyme vs. Priceless, Raw 2/9 (2/10)
50. John Cena, Rey Mysterio & Kofi Kingston vs. Chris Jericho, Mike Knox & Kane, Raw 2/9 (2/10)
51. CM Punk vs. William Regal, Raw 2/9 (2/10)
52. Bryan Danielson vs. Necro Butcher, PWG Giant Sized Annual #4 7/29/07 (2/15)
53. Elimination Chamber-Edge vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Vladimir Kozlov vs. Big Show vs. Triple H vs. Undertaker, No Way Out ’09 (2/15)
54. Randy Orton vs. Shane McMahon, No Way Out ’09 (2/15)
55. Jack Swagger vs. Finlay, No Way Out ’09 (2/15)
56. Shawn Michaels vs. JBL, No Way Out ’09 (2/15)
57. Elimination Chamber-Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho vs. Kane vs. Mike Knox vs. Edge vs. John Cena, No Way Out ’09 (2/15) (Really, really enjoyed this match. It probably helped that Cena was eliminated in two minutes, creating an “oh shit!” type moment for me and the 10 friends watching. Also enjoyed the twist with the addition of Edge, though it would’ve been nice to see what Kofi Kingston could have done in the Chamber. Make room for a new numero uno!)
58. CM Punk & Cryme Tyme vs. William Regal & Priceless, Raw 2/16 (2/17)
59. Kane vs. Jamie Noble, Raw 2/16 (2/17)
60. Rey Mysterio vs. Mike Knox, Raw 2/16 (2/17)
61. Melina vs. Beth Phoenix, Raw 2/16 (2/18)
62. Amazing Red vs. Jay Briscoe, ROH Era Of Honor Begins, 2/23/02 (2/19) (The first REAL match in ROH history. I refuse to count the Hit Squad-CSC squash/segment)
63. Rey Mysterio Jr., Latin Lover & Heavy Metal vs. Fuerza Guerrera, Madonna’s Boyfriend & Psicosis, When Worlds Collide (2/23)
64. CM Punk vs. John Morrison vs. Miz, Raw 2/23 (2/23) (Pretty good considering it was a de facto handicap. Miz has gotten so much better. Really slick finishing sequence. Here comes the inevitable Morrison and Miz breakup, methinks.)
65. Santino, Dolph Ziggler & Beth Phoenix vs. Cryme Tyme & Melina, Raw 2/23 (Anyone else think Shad could be a great heel big man?)
66. Shawn Michaels vs. JBL, Raw 2/23 (2/23) (Not bad for a match with a foregone conclusion.)
67. Mike Knox vs. Jamie Noble, Raw 2/23 (2/23) (29 seconds this week! And they say a little guy can’t succeed in the wrestling world…)
68. Bob Roop vs. Mike George, Mid-South 12/16/81 (2/24)
69. Mr. Olympia vs. Paul Orndorff, Mid-South 2/3/82 (2/24) (Several of the Mid-South guys would seem like flabby schlubs by many of the current notions of what a wrestler should look like. Yet Roop, George and Olympia can bump with the best of them. It could be argued that, hold for hold and move for move, this match has MORE action than an average match on Raw, Smackdown or Impact these days. Holds up remarkably well.)
70. Bob Roop vs. Ted DiBiase, Mid-South 4/2/82 (2/24) (Great babyface comeback by DiBiase. He works so well as a good guy that it makes his Hall of Fame-worthy heel work even more impressive.)
71. Junkyard Dog vs. Nick Bockwinkel, Mid-South 6/11/82 (2/24) (JYD wins, and gets 5 minutes with Bobby Heenan after the match. Love the save by Bruiser Brody to counter Bockwinkel’s interference during the 5 minutes.)
72. DJ Gabriel vs. Mark Henry, ECW 2/24 (2/25)
73. Tyson Kidd vs. Jobber, ECW 2/24 (2/25) (Kidd has a very unique style by WWE standards. I’d love to see him wrestle Bourne.)
74. Paul Burchill vs. Tommy Dreamer, ECW 2/24 (2/25)
75. Jack Swagger vs. Christian, ECW 2/24 (2/25) (Matt Striker is so awesome on commentary… The best WWE TV match I’ve seen this year. Even better than Taker vs. Shelton I, which is saying something because I loved that match.)
76. Joey Ryan vs. Willie Mack, NWA Wrestling Showcase 2/13 (2/26) (Mack moves well for a heavier guy.)
77. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdock (how clever) vs. Tito Aquino & Liger Rivera, NWA Wrestling Showcase 2/13 (2/26) (Cade and Murdock were treated like big stars by the studio crowd. They’re also giants compared to most guys on the roster.
78. Colons vs. Morrison & Miz, Smackdown 2/27 (2/28) (Decent tag match but never seemed to get into second gear.)
79. Undertaker vs. Vladimir Kozlov, Smackdown 2/27 (2/28) (Another stiff for the Undertaker to feud against, wheeeee. By the way, Kozlov got pinned in the EC match at No Way Out, so why doesn’t that count as a defeat?)
80. Shelton Benjamin vs. Chavo Guerrero, Smackdown 2/27 (2/28)
81. John Cena vs. Big Show, Smackdown 2/27 (2/28)
82. Mr. Olympia vs. Bob Roop, Mid-South 7/15/82 (2/28)
83. JYD & Mr. Olympia vs. Ted DiBiase & Hacksaw Duggan, Mid-South 8/18/82 (2/28)
84. One Man Gang vs. Buck Robley, Lumberjack Match, Mid-South 9/15/82 (2/28)
85. Rey Mysterio vs. Kane vs. Mike Knox, Raw 3/2 (3/3) (I really liked this match. Rey gets some real innovative counters against such big guys, and I think everyone came out looking relatively strong.)
86. Shawn Michaels vs. Vladimir Kozlov, Raw 3/2 (3/3) (If Kozlov can’t even have an entertaining match against Michaels, he is truly worthless.)
87. Edge vs. John Cena, Raw 3/2 (3/3) (OK match, but great angle putting WWE’s most bankable good guy in a chase-the-title-against-huge-odds program.)
88. Xavier vs. Scoot Andrews, ROH Era Of Honor Begins 2/23/02 (3/3) (My wife’s take on this match: “His name is Scoot? That’s ridiculous.” She also enjoys the fact that Scoot wears “shiny blue man panties.”)
89. Kane vs. Boogeyman, ECW 3/3 (3/4)
90. Mark Henry vs. Santino Marella, ECW 3/3 (3/4) (They should really just make Santino a full-time manager and make full use of his hilarious mic skills.)
91. Christian, Tommy Dreamer & Finlay vs. Jack Swagger, Morrison & Miz, ECW 3/3 (3/4) (ECW does well with the multi-man tag matches.)
92. Border Patrol vs. Espiritu & Sidareal, NWA Wrestling Showcase 2/13 (3/5) (I thought this might be the version of the Border Patrol with Michael Modest. I was wrong…)
93. Derrick Sanders vs. Blue Demon, NWA Wrestling Showcase 2/13 (3/5) (My first look at Blue Demon and this was basically a showcase for him. If this wants to be anything more than a backwater company, they need to have someone who’s different, who’s got “it.” Yet to see anyone through the first two episodes who really qualifies.)
94. MVP vs. Matt Hardy, Smackdown 3/6 (3/7) (The heel turn has left Hardy’s in-ring work especially bland. MVP’s my pick to win Money in the Bank.)
95. Bill Dundee vs. Larry Latham, Memphis 4/19/80 (3/13) (Latham is Moondog Spot. Weird to see him wrestle a straight-up match.)
96. Ricky Morton vs. Sonny King, Memphis 4/26/80 (3/13) (A very young Morton wrestles an amateur-style 10 minute time limit draw. Yes, really.)
97. Bill Dundee vs. Paul Ellering, Memphis 5/24/80 (3/13) (Holy crap, Ellering is JACKED! He woulda violated a 1980 wellness policy for sure.)
98. Bill Dundee & Tony Boyles vs. Wayne Farris & Larry Latham, Memphis 6/7/80 (3/16) (Wayne Farris, a bleached blond Honkytonk Man, and Moondog Spot as a tag team. Bizarre and awesome at the same time. They also hit what might be the shittiest spike piledriver ever during the match. I approve any time Lance Russell says someone is “beating the stew” out of someone else.)
99. Christian & MVP vs. Shelton Benjamin & Mark Henry, ECW 3/17 (3/17) (Christian jobs cleanly, again. Because it makes so much sense to base booking decisions solely upon ego and inside jokes.)
100. Evan Bourne vs. Jamie Noble, ECW 3/17 (3/17) (Awesome showcase for Bourne in his return.)
101. Bill Dundee vs. Tommy Rich, Memphis 8/23/80 (3/17) (Rich wins with an “inadvertent” low blow and cuts a heel promo after.)
102. Television Title Battle Royal, Memphis 11/22/80 (3/17) (Fantastic angle in the next segment, with Jimmy Valiant berating Tommy Rich’s mother after she tells the fans to show that no-goodnik Wildfire a little love. Tommy runs to the rescue, Valiant and Tojo team up for a beatdown and Rich taps a freakin’ artery, then turns face. Guys seemed to turn a LOT in Memphis.)
103. Bill Dundee vs. Wayne Farris & Tojo Yamamoto, Memphis 3/7/81 (3/18) (Handicap match for the tag titles. Dundee actually goes to the in-out stall 8 minutes in trying to expend time and possibly draw to keep the belts. Eventually the heels get the better of them.)
104. Bill Dundee & Tommy Rich vs. Dutch Mantell & Austin Idol, Memphis 3/12/81 (3/19)
105. Bill Dundee & Dream Machine vs. Dutch Mantell & Wayne Farris, Memphis 3/14/81 (3/19) (I love how Memphis matches go from stalling and holds to crazy brawling at the drop of a hat.)
106. Jerry Lawler vs. Terry Funk (No DQ), Memphis 3/23/81 (3/23)
107. Jerry Lawler vs. Dory Funk Jr., Memphis 3/30/81 (3/23)
108. Jeff Hardy vs. Dolph Ziggler, Raw 3/23 (3/23)
109. Christian, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston & MVP vs. Finlay, Shelton Benjamin, Kane & Mark Henry, Raw 3/23 (3/23)
110. Edge vs. Big Show, Raw 3/23 (3/23)
111. Rey Mysterio vs. William Regal, Raw 3/23 (3/23)
112. Mickie James vs. Santino Marella, Raw 3/23 (3/23)
113. Jerry Lawler vs. Terry Funk (Empty Arena), Memphis 4/6/81 (3/24)
114. Contract Match-Spanky & Ikaika Loa vs. Michael Shane & Oz, ROH Era Of Honor Begins, 2/23/02 (3/25)

116. Kenny King vs. Sami Callahan, ROH TV 3/21 (3/25)

118. Jimmy Jacobs vs. Tyler Black, ROH TV 3/21 (3/25)
119. CM Punk, Mark Henry, MVP & Kofi Kingston vs. Finlay, Shelton Benjamin, Kane & Christian, Smackdown 3/27 (3/30)
120. Big Show vs. Jesse & Festus, Smackdown 3/27 (3/30)
121. Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr., Smackdown 3/27 (3/30)
122. Matt Hardy vs. R Truth, Smackdown 3/27 (3/30)
123. Carlito, Primo & Good Bella vs. Morrison, Miz & Bad Bella, Smackdown 3/27 (3/30)
124. 18 woman tag match, Raw 3/30 (3/30)
125. Chris Jericho vs. Jerry Lawler, Raw 3/30 (3/30)
126. Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. JBL, Raw 3/30 (3/30)
127. John Cena vs. Big Show, Raw 3/30 (3/30)
128. Eight man battle royal, Raw 3/30 (3/30)
129. Kevin Steen vs. Eddie Edwards, ROH TV 3/28 (3/31)
130. Sara Del Rey vs. Daizee Haze, ROH TV 3/28 (3/31)

133. Team 3D vs. Main Event Mafia Security, Impact 4/2 (4/3)
134. Taylor Wilde vs. Madison Rayne, Impact 4/2 (4/3) (No haircut for Taylor post-match. Madison runs after her—WITH SCISSORS! OMG HARDCORE!)
135. Nigel McGuinness vs. Jay Briscoe, ROH TV 3/28 (4/3)
136. Money In The Bank ladder match, WrestleMania XXV (4/5)
137. 25 Diva Battle Royal, WrestleMania XXV (4/5)
138. Chris Jericho vs. Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka & Ricky Steamboat, WrestleMania XXV (4/5)
139. Extreme Rules-Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy, WrestleMania XXV (4/5)
140. JBL vs. Rey Mysterio Jr., WrestleMania XXV (4/5)
141. Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels, WrestleMania XXV (4/5) (Absolutely phenomenal match, and the only match all night that felt like a WrestleMania spectacle. Make room for a new numero uno!)
142. Edge vs. John Cena vs. Big Show, WrestleMania XXV (4/5)
143. Triple H vs. Randy Orton, WrestleMania XXV (4/5)
144. Colons vs. Morrison & Miz, Raw 4/6 (4/7)

186. Finlay vs. Zack Ryder, WWE Superstars 5/7 (5/8)
187. Kane vs. Leviathan, OVW Christmas Chaos 2001 (5/9) (Hey, Batista with actual mobility. Weird calling a show in January “Christmas Chaos”…)
188. Chris Jericho vs. John Morrison, WWE Superstars 5/7 (5/11) (Good match. Some great moves from Morrison. Shitty finish.)
189. Consequences Creed vs. Suicide, Impact 5/7 (5/11)
190. Main Event Mafia vs. Mick Foley, Jeff Jarrett, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels, Impact 5/7 (5/11)
191. Batista vs. DiBiase & Orton, Raw 5/11 (5/11)
192. Carlito vs. THE Brian Kendrick, Raw 5/11 (5/11) (Nice little midcard match. Some good spots. Me likey a Kendrick tag push.)
193. Santina vs. Beth Phoenix, Raw 5/11 (5/11)
194. MVP & Kofi Kingston vs. William Regal & Matt Hardy, Raw 5/11 (5/11) (Four of my favorites!)

196. Masa Fuchi, Atsushi Onita & Tojo Yamamoto vs. Roy Rogers, Rick & Robert Gibson, Memphis 9/5/81 (5/14) (My least favorite match on the Memphis set so far.)

201. Jerry Lawler vs. Super Destroyer, Memphis November 81 (5/20)
202. Jimmy Hart vs. Dennis Upton, Memphis 12/26/81 (5/20)
203. Norvell Austin vs. Steve Keirn, Memphis 2/27/82) (5/22) (Keirn agrees to put up the tag titles in a match where he has to beat Austin twice in 10 minutes and can’t use any punches, kicks or gouges. I’m reminded of the words of Dark Helmet. “Now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.”)
204. Jerry Lawler vs. Dutch Mantell (No DQ), Memphis 3/22/82 (5/22) (WOW. Just tremendous. What sold it for me was when Lawler pulled the strap down and Mantell just made this subtle “bring it on” motion with his hand. It’s the little things, people. Surprising finish, in a good way, with the heel using the face-style sunset flip. Seems like a good portion of the live crowd enjoyed the result, too.)
205. Jerry Lawler vs. Dutch Mantell (Loser Leaves Town), Memphis 3/82 (5/22)
206. Christian vs. Tommy Dreamer, WWE Superstars 5/21 (5/26)
207. Kofi Kingston vs. William Regal, WWE Superstars 5/21 (5/26)
208. CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho, WWE Superstars 5/21 (5/26)

210. CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho, WWE Smackdown 5/22 (5/26) (Nice second chapter after their match the previous night.)
211. Edge vs. Jeff Hardy, WWE Smackdown 5/22 (5/26)
212. Mark Henry vs. Evan Bourne, ECW 5/26 (5/27)
213. Jerry Lawler vs. Dutch Mantell (Barbed Wire Match) Memphis 3/29/82 (5/29) (Fabulous. Again, it’s the little things like Lawler’s usually awesome punches losing steam at the end of a near 30-minute slugfest. Finish was a bit odd, but helped sell the match as a battle to exhaustion and Dutch wasn’t weakened a bit in defeat.)
214. Andy Kaufman vs. Jerry Lawler, Memphis 4/5/82 (5/31) (Kaufman was so amazing on the microphone and you could tell he’s loving every bit of it. Something like this wouldn’t work nearly as well these days…)
215. Bill Dundee vs. Sweet Brown Sugar (2/3 falls, Scaffold Match) Memphis 6/21/82 (Much better upon second viewing.) (5/31)
216. Suicide vs. Amazing Red, TNA Impact 5/28 (6/1)
217. R Truth & Great Khali vs. Mike Knox & Dolph Ziggler, WWE Smackdown 5/29 (6/1)
218. John Morrison vs. Umaga, WWE Smackdown 5/29 (6/1) (Good stuff.)
219. Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas vs. Cryme Tyme, WWE Smackdown 5/29 (6/1) (AWESOME finish by Benjamin.)
220. Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho & Edge, WWE Smackdown 5/29 (6/1) (Yaaaay, another handicap match.)
221. Batista vs. Cody Rhodes, WWE Raw 6/1 (6/1)
222. Colons vs. Matt Hardy & William Regal, WWE Raw 6/1 (6/1)
223. John Cena & Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs. Big Show & Miz, WWE Raw 6/1 (6/1)
224. MVP vs. Kofi Kingston, WWE Raw 6/1 (6/1) (Best match on Raw in a long damn time.)
225. Mark Henry vs. Evan Bourne, WWE ECW 6/2 (6/2) (I’m actually enjoying this little series. Hopefully it leads to a NO DQ or falls count anywhere match.)
226. Tommy Dreamer vs. Paul Burchill, WWE ECW 6/2 (6/2) (A paint by numbers match. Picked up at the end.)
227. Goldust & Hornswoggle vs. Brian Kendrick & Jamie Noble, WWE Superstars 6/4 (6/4) (I’ll enjoy the tizzy from the Internet fans about Kendrick jobbing to Hornswoggle.)
228. Jeff Hardy & R Truth vs. Chris Jericho & Dolph Ziggler, WWE Superstars 6/4 (6/4) (Standard tag match, nothing special.)
229. Matt Morgan vs. Private Jobber, TNA Impact 6/4 (6/4)
230. Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Nash, TNA Impact 6/4 (6/4) (Wow, Joe’s just been ruined by the bookers there…)
231. Christian vs. Tyson Kidd, WWE ECW 6/2 (6/8) (Christian’s been in two of the better WWE TV matches this year.)
232. Kofi Kingston vs. William Regal, WWE Raw 6/8 (6/8)
233. Bobby Eaton & Sweet Brown Sugar vs. Dutch Mantell & King Cobra, Memphis 7/19/82 (6/9) (A brilliantly mapped out Southern tag match.)
234. Bill Dundee vs. Bobby Eaton, Memphis 7/24/82 (6/9) (Fun match where Dutch Mantell is sitting right next to Jimmy Hart to prevent any interference. Of course, both interfere. Eaton actually cuts a promo before the match.)
235. Jerry Lawler vs. Ric Flair, Memphis 8/14/82 (6/9) (More of a great piece of history and nostalgia than a great match. The slow progression in the mic work for Flair from respect to his screaming heelishness on Memphis and alliance with Hart was awesome.)
236. Jerry Lawler vs. Kamala, Memphis 8/28/82 (6/9) (These one-minute run-in finishes in Memphis really keep the match total moving!)
237. Evan Bourne vs. Tony Atlas, WWE ECW 6/9 (6/12)
238. Christian & Jack Swagger vs. Hart Dynasty, WWE ECW 6/9 (6/12) (D.H. Smith or whatever his name is just isn’t very good…)
239. Evan Bourne vs. Zack Ryder, WWE Superstars 6/11 (6/15)
240. Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk, WWE Smackdown 6/12 (6/15)
241. Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio Jr., WWE Raw 6/15 (6/15)
242. CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Edge, WWE Raw 6/15 (6/15) (What’s it say that the only matches worth watching on Raw involved guys from Smackdown?)
243. Colons vs. Hart Dynasty, WWE Raw 6/15 (6/15)
244. Chris Jericho vs. John Morrison, WWE Superstars 6/11 (6/15) (Best TV match I’ve seen since Christian vs. Swagger for the title.
245. Axl Rotten vs. Bull Pain, Falls Count Anywhere, IWA Mid South Spring Heat 2002, 3/1/02 (6/17) (Crappy.)
246. Christian vs. D.H. Smith, WWE ECW 6/16 (6/18) (Aside from Smith nearly killing Christian on the Rock Bottom, this was good. Move was called a uranage by Matt Stryker, so long Rock, we hardly knew ye.)
247. Evan Bourne vs. Mark Henry, WWE ECW 6/16 (6/18) (So in the blow-off, Mark Henry takes advantage of a ribs-injured Bourne and basically squashes him. Um… yay?)
248. Jack Brisco vs. Ric Flair, NWA Mid Atlantic 8/18/82 (6/21)
249. 2 out of 3 Falls-Kerry Von Erich vs. Ric Flair, World Class 8/24/82 (6/21)
250. Ric Flair vs. Harley Race, NWA Mid Atlantic 8/31/83 (6/21)
251. Ric Flair, Arn Anderson & Ole Anderson vs. Manny Fernandez, Dusty Rhodes & Magnum TA, NWA World Wide 12/15/85 (6/21) (Fun six man tag)

256. Jeff Hardy vs. Kane, WWE Smackdown 7/10 (7/15)
257. Mickie Knuckles vs. Allison Danger, IWA-EC 11/5/04 (7/15)
258. Ryo Saito & Genki Horiguchi vs. Shingo & Cyber Kong, Dragon Gate Osaka Special 11/23/06 (7/17)
259. Jushin Liger, Jack Evans, Matt Sydal & BXB Hulk vs. Masato Yoshino, Naruki Doi, Magnitude Kishiwada & Kevin Steen, Dragon Gate Osaka Special 11/23/06 (7/17) (BXB Hulk’s ring entrance might be one of the most awesomely cheesy things I have ever seen in wrestling.)
260. Big Show, Jack Swagger & Carlito vs. Primo, MVP & Kofi Kingston, WWE Raw 7/20 (7/20) (Multi-ethnic Babyface Trio activate!)
261. Jerry Lawler vs. THE Brian Kendrick, WWE Raw 7/20 (7/20) (Poor Kendrick…)
262. Mark Henry vs. Chris Jericho, WWE Raw 7/20 (7/20)
263. Handicap-John Cena & Triple H vs. Legacy, WWE Raw 7/20 (7/20)
264. Kevin Steen vs. Nate Webb, IWA-MS 2005 Ted Petty Invitational, 9/23/05 (7/21)
265. Josh Abercrombie vs. Jamie Noble, IWA-MS 2005 Ted Petty Invitational, 9/23/05 (7/22)
266. Brad Bradley vs. Tank, IWA-MS 2005 Ted Petty Invitational, 9/23/05 (7/22) (Flabbergasting Bradley didn’t get a fair chance in WWE.)
267. Mike Quackenbush vs. Alex Shelley, IWA-MS 2005 Ted Petty Invitational, 9/23/05 (7/22) (So awesome.)
268. Yoshi Tatsu vs. William Regal, WWE ECW 7/21 (7/22)
269. Ezekiel Jackson vs. Jobber, WWE ECW 7/21 (7/22)
270. Shelton Benjamin vs. Goldust, WWE ECW 7/21 (7/22)
271. Mark Henry vs. Carlito, WWE Raw 7/27 (7/27)
272. MVP vs. Chris Masters, WWE Raw 7/27 (7/27)
273. Kofi Kingston vs. Brian Kendrick, WWE Raw 7/27 (7/27) (Poor Kendrick…)
274. Triple H vs. Cody Rhodes, WWE Raw 7/27 (7/28) (Cole and Lawler said Triple H couldn’t hit DiBiase or he’d get DQ’d. Since when? That made zero sense.)
275. Evan Bourne vs. Jack Swagger, WWE Raw 7/27 (7/29)
276. John Cena vs. The Miz, WWE Raw 7/27 (7/29) (Smarks shat all over this but I actually liked all the various tactics the Miz used to try and kill time.)
277. Cryme Tyme vs. Big Show & Chris Jericho, WWE Raw 7/27 (7/29) (Inoffensive match but the Show-Shaq stuff was the centerpiece.)
278. Christian vs. Zack Ryder, WWE ECW 7/28 (7/30) (Christian keeps having good matches on ECW with a variety of different people.)
279. Arik Cannon vs. Joey Ryan, IWA-MS 2005 Ted Petty Invitational, 9/23/05 (7/31) (Not a good match. Their styles did not mesh well together AT ALL.)
280. Skayde vs. Puma, IWA-MS 2005 Ted Petty Invitational, 9/23/05 (7/31)
281. Chris Hero vs. Rainman, IWA-MS 2005 Ted Petty Invitational, 9/23/05 (7/31) (Really good heavyweight match. Made me want to see more of Rainman.)
282. John Morrison vs. Tyson Kidd, WWE Superstars 7/30 (8/3) (Good match.)
283. Yoshi Tatsu vs. William Regal, WWE Superstars 7/30 (8/3)
284. Jack Swagger vs. Evan Bourne, WWE Raw 8/3 (8/3) (Mmmmm. Squash…)
285. Triple H vs. Legacy, WWE Raw 8/3 (8/3) (Says something about WWE booking that you’re surprised to see the team with the numbers advantage win a handicap match.)
286. Carlito vs. Primo, WWE Raw 8/3 (8/3)
287. Big Show vs. Kofi Kingston, WWE Raw 8/3 (8/3)
288. Lumberjack Match-John Cena vs. Miz, WWE Raw 8/3 (8/3)

291. Finlay & Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Dolph Ziggler & Mike Knox, WWE Smackdown 7/31 (8/5) (Fun tag match. Ziggler’s really gotten good and Knox could be a great big guy heel.)
292. Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison, WWE Smackdown 7/31 (8/7) (Solid match, but not all it was cracked up to be. Loved some of the counter offense, though, and Punk’s full fledged heel turn postmatch was fantastic.)
293. Country Whippin Match-Michael Hayes & Terry Gordy vs. Kerry Von Erich & Kevin Von Erich, World Class October 83 (8/7) (One of my favorite feuds of all time!)
294. Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Mike Knox, WWE Superstars 8/6 (8/10) (Good big man vs. little man match. Knox’ flying cross body is all kinds of awesome.)
295. Jack Swagger vs. Evan Bourne, WWE Raw 8/10 (8/10)
296. Contract On A Pole match-Miz vs. Eugene, WWE Raw 8/10 (8/10 (Feh.) (8/10)

298. Fabulous Freebirds vs. Junkyard Dog & Bill Watts, Mid-South 1980 (8/10)
299. Dusty Rhodes & Dick Murdoch vs. Wild Samoans, Mid-South 1980 (8/10) (Come for the clips of four fat guys rasslin and another fat guy—One Man Gang?—interfering. Stay for the great promos from Rhodes and Murdoch.)
300. Junkyard Dog vs. Ted Dibiase, Mid-South 6/23/82 (8/10)
301. John Cena vs. Chris Jericho, WWE Raw 8/10 (8/10) (Felt like a house show match until the post-DQ shenanigans.)
302. D’Lo Brown vs, Val Venis, Summerslam 1998, 8/30/98 (8/10) (A good 15- to 20-minute opener to a pay-per-view. Watching this match, with the variance in moves and wrestling tactics, after just watching a modern-day Raw, was an eye opener.)
303. Oddities vs. Kaientai, Summerslam 1998, 8/30/98 (Bizarre match. Giant Silva looks like Sloth and Brad Garrett had a baby.)
304. Hair vs Hair- Jeff Jarrett vs. X-Pac, Summerslam 1998, 8/30/98 (Ain’t nothing wrong with a good quality hair match.)
305. Zack Ryder vs. Shelton Benjamin, WWE ECW 8/11 (8/11) (Shelton’s a babyface now? When did that happen…)
306. Paul Burchill vs. Yoshi Tatsu, WWE ECW 8/11 (8/11)
307. Surge (Matt Hardy) vs. Mike Maverick, OMEGA late 90s (8/11)

311. Tuxedo Match-Paul E. Dangerously vs. Jim Cornette, NWA Great American Bash 1989, 7/23/89 (8/13) (Obviously not a classic, but both guys tried hard and brought some great intensity to it. Line of the Decade: Bob Caudle saying “Let’s get some clothes off these guys!”)
312. Texas Tornado-Steiners vs. Mike Rotunda & Kevin Sullivan, NWA Great American Bash 1989, 7/23/89 (8/13) (Five minutes of nonstop action. Wish it had been longer.)
313. Hurricane Helms vs. Paul Burchill, WWE ECW 8/18 (8/19) (Paint by numbers match until Burchill hit that sweet backflip double-leg Pele type kick. Awesome, especially for a guy that size.)
314. Zack Ryder vs. Yoshi Tatsu, WWE ECW 8/18 (8/19) (What’s it say that this match had better psychology than 90% of what you see on WWE? Great consistent selljob by Tatsu on the arm.)
315. Christian Cage & Ezekiel Jackson vs. William Regal & Vladimir Kozlov, WWE ECW 8/18 (8/19) (So Regal and the two big guys are a faction now? OK…)
316. Dylan Klein vs Brett DiBiase, FCW 5/17/09 (8/25) (You could make a whole stable just full of DiBiase’s clean-cut metrosexual looking sons.)
317. Troy Jackman & Jon Cutler vs. Sweet Papi Sanchez & KAFU, FCW 5/17/09 (8/25) (Papi’s an engorged Savio Vega. What’s with the mohawked heels–Jackman then Klein. KAFU sold the right arm after they worked on the left. D’oh.)

Some decent mat wrestling and hold-for-hold stuff but it spent too long in first gear. Not enough intensity for me to buy into a mat-based match. Too much cutesy stuff, obvious spots where they were helping each other. Disappointing.)
