Did GSP really draft that much better?
Has Koscheck really been that snakebit?
Hard to say. All I know for sure is that the three losses are clearly taking a toll on Josh Koscheck.
With GSP still in control of the fights, he picks Nam Phan (Team Koscheck) to face Spencer Page (Team GSP).
Of course, no week would be complete without the “hilarious” hijinx of Bruce Leroy. This week he thought it would be funny to put bleach in the fabric softener of Nam Phan. What he didn’t know was that his teammate, Michael Johnson, was using that fabric softener. Now, Bruce Leroy is pissing off his own team. GOOD plan dude!
It was a week of guest stars as well.
GSP brought in Jean-Charles Skarbowsky to give his team some Muay Thai pointers. Skarbowsky was lit and proceeded to kick the crap out of Team GSP.
Was it enough? Let’s go to the fight.
The fighters came out swinging…hard. They traded some stiff shots and Page took Phan to a knee with an inside leg kick. The tone changed when Phan caught one of Page’s kicks and took him to the ground. Phan then proceeded to lands blow after blow on Page. Phan was working on a submission as the bell rang to end the first round.
The second round was more of the same. Page clearly injured himself early in the round and played defense the rest of the way. Phan kept the pressure on, but was never able to knock Page out.
In the end it was enough for Phan to win the fight by decision and give Team Koscheck its first victory.
Josh Koshceck was ecstatic to be in control of the fights. He mouthed off to GSP, again. One of these time GSP is going to level him.
In the postmortem, it was revealed that Page had broken his hand.
Next week, two fights. Stay tuned.
